Every patient is different, and requires a sophisticated study to choose the appropriate procedures that may require to get the facial makeover surgery. Many of our patients present to our office with the desire for a complete makeover of their face and neck. This may consist of many facial/neck procedures performed simultaneously such as a facelift, browlift, facial liposculpture, rhinoplasty, upper and lower blepharoplasty, lip augmentation, laser or dermabrasion (for skin improvement), and possibly botox. No matter how many procedures one has simultaneously, the facelift is the main procedure to achieve your new look. It is the core procedure that you then add accessory procedures. These procedures may take a few hours or even a full day in the operating room.

Orthognatic Surgery

To achieve a facial makeover, it requires multiple surgeries to reverse the early signs of aging, treating more advanced signs often requires surgical methods. These procedures are Facelift, Eyelid Surgery, Brow Lift Rhinoplasty, Neck Liposuction and Fat Transfer.

There are many non-surgical treatments available that can diminish wrinkles, add volume and enhance facial features. The key to superior results is using these tools in a soft and artistic manner. These non-surgical procedure will polish the final result for an extreme facial makeover

Orthognatic Surgery is he Correction of hard and soft tissue facial imperfections. Orthognatic Surgery is for an adequate facial balance. This surgery is to correct conditions of the facial bones (jaw) and face related to structure with malocclusion problems owing to skeletal disharmonies.

Who is a candidate for Facial Makeover Surgery?

Different faces age differently, but some similarities are common to all aging faces. With aging, the fullness of youthful cheeks fades and the deflated soft tissues of the mid-face sag. The ligaments of the face limit the descent of the soft tissues, leading to heavy jowls and deep nasolabial folds. Fat accumulates underneath the chin and in the jowls, and the muscles of the neck tend to sag. The skin also continues to age and sag with wrinkles, age spots, and broken blood vessels. Also when we age we start loosing our necessary fat in the cheeks and around eyes giving a skull face. Most women become candidates for a facial makeover sometime after forty-five and men about ten years later. The decision to operate depends not only on the severity of the problem that affect every patient, so surgery can go from various surgical procedure to include also non surgical or orthognatic surgery if requieres.

What should I expect from my consultation?

During your consultation, you will learn about the surgery, its limitations and risks, and discuss your needs and concerns. This will help Dr. Nabil Fakih understand your expectations and determine whether they realistically can be achieved. Dr. Nabil Fakih will carefully examine your face to assess the shape and asymmetries to determine what type of procedure would best maximize your result.

After your consultation we will take photographs for your medical record and we will discuss the surgery fees and scheduling dates. Prices can be discussed during your consultation. It is cost-effective to combine operations, generally a second procedure will cost 60% of the normal price, and a third operation will be 50% of the normal price. These savings reflect one hospital stay and a reduced overall time in the operating theatre. As with any procedure with Dr. Nabil Fakih, all follow-up and nursing relating to your surgery will be included in the price. You should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. You should provide any relevant information from your health doctors. Also provide information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries and medications that you currently take. It is important for you to provide complete information. Our philosophy is simple. We want you to be fully informed, and we want you to understand all your options and have one accurate price quoted once.

Why choose to have Facial Makeover Surgery?

Not only is having multiple procedures at the same time more cost effective, it also has the advantages of a single recovery time avoiding the need for a second anesthesia. If you are considering having multiple procedures Dr. Nabil Fakih can advise during your consultation the best course of action to suit your needs. For the majority of patients this is both safe and practical. The advantage of choosing simultaneous procedures is to achieve a completely new and younger look from one operation while recovering from multiple operations at the same time.

Facial Makeover Surgery Procedures

It is common to perform eyelid surgery with face & neck lifts and Fat Transfer. This combination allows all the swelling and settling to happen in one occasion, and facelift and eye surgery usually take around the same time to heal. A browlift can also be added to the surgery, but patients should be aware that this will add some further swelling and therefore recovery time will take slightly longer. Nose re-shaping (Rhinoplasty) can also be done in addition to many procedures.  Also we can combine it with Mentoplasty, Fat Transfer with lipofilling in the face to re-establish the fat and avoid skull face, and PRP injections. We can also enhance with botox, fillers and facial lasers to give the last important glance for your face.

Is multiple procedures i right for me?

Dr. Nabil Fakih will assess if multiple procedures is right for the patient during the consultation. He will carry out surgery if it is safe to do and none of the procedures will have a negative impact on each other. Some patients will have a higher risk than others and therefore might not suit a longer operation including smokers, people who are overweight and those with a history of blood clots. In this scenario Dr. Nabil Fakih might consider splitting the surgery to separate occasions.

What to avoid before surgery?

It is vitally important to avoid all blood thinning medications/supplements for 2 weeks prior to surgery. This includes any aspirin or aspirin-containing products as well as any anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or naproxen (including Motrin, Aleve and Advil). It is generally fine to be take Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Avoid supplements such as Vitamin E including multi vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids such as fish oil and flax seed oil. All of these medications can contribute to bleeding problems following surgery and can increase the amount of bruising. It would be useful to bring a list of any prescribed medications to your pre-op assessment. If you are a smoker, try and stop for the amount of time as outlined in each procedure as it can reduce the chances of complications.

Recovery

Your recovery will depend on the type of surgery you have had. You can find further information on the individual procedure pages, but it can also be discussed further with Dr. Nabil Fakih during your consultation. All our patient are prepared by Dr. Paula Martin-Marfil with the Pre / Post surgical preparation program to enhance a quick recovery. Facial Makeover Surgery are usually done in our private surgery suite under general anesthesia. This allows a painless surgical procedure that patients sleep through. We recommend to stay in the hospital overnight. Any smoking may seriously impede wound healing and dramatically raise the risk for scarring. Please be candid with your surgeon if you are a smoker, as the procedure itself may need to be modified for you. All smoking must be stopped for at least two weeks before and two weeks after any facelift procedure.

Following surgery, patients wear a large fluffy dressing for one to two days. After this is removed, patients may wash their face and hair gently. Sutures and staples are removed between one and two weeks. It is important to minimize activity following surgery and to keep the head elevated as much as possible. Ice packs are helpful for the first twenty-four hours. Bruising and swelling are typical and may be dramatic after surgery. This resolves in varying amounts of time, generally within ten days, and much of the bruising may be concealed with makeup at one week following surgery. Pain is surprisingly minimal following surgery, and the cheeks and ears may feel numb for several weeks.
