Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorb the light and that destroys the hair. There are several light technology lasers that damage hair follicle : Diode, Alexandrite and ND-YAG. Also laser machines can have or not cooling system. So, a machine could be one of the light technologies described before and a cooling system or not. At Fakih Clinic, we have the tree in one which is the trio technology in one machine, giving better result to our patients with every shot, with an advanced cooling system.

Stardust Med 3 in 1 : The Most Trio Innovative Laser Machine

The Stardust Med, the most advanced Diode Laser, houses – under its body with the unmistakable Made in Italy design – an innovative technology that finally manages to bring together the most powerful laser emitting diode consistent with the innovative double cooling system with copper and gold macrochannels. With this laser, hair removal treatments achieve never before seen performance. We have combined 808 nm of laser power in a single stack of diodes, the performance of the 755 nm Alexandrite and the efficiency of the 1064 nm Nd:Yag laser. In this way, you can solve the most complex epilation cases with unprecedented performance. Added to these is the exclusive sapphire crystal which, due to its extreme purity eliminates unwanted light refractions guaranteeing maximum precision for the highest level treatment. Its cooling up to -5 ̊C in contact with skin ensures epilation sessions in maximum comfort.

What should I expect from my consultation?

During your consultation, you will learn about Hair Removal and discuss your needs and concerns. Our certified laser specialist will carefully examine the areas with hair and he will determine the sequence of treatment. After your consultation, we will discuss the treatment fees and scheduling dates. You should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. You should provide information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries and medications that you currently take. It is important for you to provide complete information.

How does the new Stardust Med laser work?

There are many lasers on the market: what really makes a difference? The answer for us is simple: technological innovation. Equipment so complex – and with a direct impact on the body – must be designed perfectly, and be innovated continuously. We have done it and continue to do it.

With the new Stardust Med we use the principle of Selective Accumulative Photothermolysis, thanks to which the energy of the laser beam only selectively hits the part of the tissue that needs it due to the effect of different absorption of light at different wavelengths, respecting the Thermal Relaxation Time (TRT) of the skin. Selectively hitting the target, only the latest technology can propagate the right amount of energy for an adequate time. In this way, the laser beam is solely absorbed by the hair bulb, which is damaged by continuing to accumulate heat, compromising the enzymatic exchange with the germination papilla and therefore the life cycle of the hair. We produce clear, long-lasting results even on complex tissue and not uniformly pigmented, without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. Fast to use, effective and permanent, the new Stardust Med Laser ensures a reduction of bulbar endowment of up to 90% in reduced times.

The heart of the exclusive technology of Stardust Med is a PC that is embedded with a latest-generation processor that constantly monitors all the operating parameters and the emission of the laser beam emitted by the diode with extreme precision , adapting them in real time based on the specific requirements. While the apparatus is in action, it analyses – a billion times per second – parameters such as temperature, power, pulse times and edits them immediately while the treatment is being performed, in full autonomy, to obtain the best result on each specific patient.

The result is a longer lifetime of the diode and precise and high level work on each individual patient.

Revolutionary cooling system

The high-power bars of the Diode Laser develop a lot of heat and need to be continuously cooled. In our Stardust Med we have inserted an advanced macro-channel cooling system (MCC Macro-Channel Cooler) combined with gold and copper heat exchangers to increase the efficiency and lifespan of the machinery, without any thermal damage or loss of power.

Hair Removal Technique

Laser hair removal is used to reduce unwanted hair. Common treatment locations include legs, armpits, upper lip, chin and the bikini line. However, it's possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area. Hair color and skin type influence the success of laser hair removal. The basic principle is that the pigment of the hair, but not the pigment of the skin, should absorb the light. The laser should damage only the hair follicle while avoiding damage to the skin. Therefore, a contrast between hair and skin color — dark hair and light skin — results in the best outcomes. The risk of damage to skin is greater when there is little contrast between hair and skin color, but advances in laser technology have made laser hair removal an option for people who have darker skin. Laser hair removal is less effective for hair colors that don't absorb light well: gray, red, blond and white. However, laser treatment options for light-colored hair continue to be developed.

Who does my laser hair removal session?

At Fakih Clinic, we have our certified female laser specialist. Before proceeding with any medical treatment, ask to see the certificate and qualifications of the specialist who is doing your treatment. At our center, we guarantee a great attention as a certified specialist. Put your body in certified hands. Be cautious about spas, salons or other facilities that allow non medical personnel to do laser hair removal.

How you prepare?

Before laser hair removal, schedule a consultation with a certified specialist to determine if this is an appropriate treatment option for you. Your specialist will likely do the following:

• Review your medical history, including medication use, history of skin disorders or scarring, and past hair removal procedures.

• Discuss risks, benefits and expectations, including what laser hair removal can and can't do for you.

At the consultation, discuss a treatment plan and related costs.

Specific Instructions

• Staying out of the sun. Follow your doctor's advice for avoiding sun exposure, usually up to six weeks before treatment, and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

• Lightening your skin. Avoid any sunless skin creams that darken your skin. Your doctor also might prescribe a skin bleaching cream if you have a recent tan or darker skin.

• Avoiding other hair removal methods. Plucking, waxing and electrolysis can disturb the hair follicle and should be avoided at least four weeks before treatment.

• Avoiding blood-thinning medications. Ask your doctor about what medications, such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs, to avoid before the procedure.

• Shaving treatment area. Trimming and shaving is recommended the day before laser treatment. It removes hair above the skin that can result in surface skin damage from burnt hairs, but it leaves the hair shaft intact below the surface.

What you can expect?

Laser hair removal usually requires a series of session treatments. The interval between treatments will vary depending on the location, mainly between 4-6 weeks. For each treatment you'll wear special goggles to protect your eyes from the laser beam. An assistant might shave the site again if necessary. In sensitive patients or areas we might apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to reduce any discomfort during treatment.

During the procedure

The specialist will press a hand-held laser instrument to your skin. A cooling device on the tip of the instrument or a cool gel is used to protect your skin and lessen the risk of side effects. When the specialist activates the laser, the laser beam will pass through your skin to the hair follicles. The intense heat from the laser beam damages the hair follicles, which inhibits hair growth. You might feel discomfort, such as a warm pinprick, and you'll likely feel a sensation of cold from the cooling device or gel. Treating a small area, such as the upper lip, might take only a few minutes. Treating a larger area, such as the back, might take more than an hour.

After the procedure

You might notice redness and swelling for the first few hours after laser hair removal. To reduce any discomfort, apply ice to the treated area. If you have a skin reaction immediately after laser hair removal, the doctor might apply a steroid cream to the affected area. After laser hair removal and between scheduled treatments, avoid sun exposure — both natural sunlight and tanning beds — for six weeks or as directed by your doctor. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

Results

Hairs do not fall out immediately, but you will shed them over a period of days to weeks. This may look like continued hair growth. The repeated treatments are usually necessary because hair growth and loss naturally occur in a cycle, and laser treatment works best with hair follicles in the new-growth stage.

Results vary significantly and are difficult to predict. Most people experience hair removal that lasts several months, and it might last for years, but laser hair removal doesn't guarantee permanent hair removal. When hair regrows, it's usually finer and lighter in color. You might need maintenance laser treatments for long-term hair reduction. Although laser hair removal effectively delays hair growth for long periods, it usually doesn't result in permanent hair removal in some cases. Success rate with our machine is more than 90%. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed for initial hair removal, and maintenance treatments might be needed as well. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair.
